Hernando County Jail

Good Behavior

Interview with Ron and JM

JM: Did you get off early based on good behavior?
Ron: I didn't but it is possible to get 8 days a month knocked off if you were sentenced to county jail.
JM: No. I waited in the jail during my case, and was released after I was given probation. It is possible to get time off, and that factors into many people's motivation to stay out of trouble.

JM: What is the most time off you can receive for good behavior?
Ron: You are required to do 71% of your sentence. You can recieve up to 5 days per. month for good behavior and an additional 3 days if you are working.
JM: You are supposed to do 85 percent of your time, but you can get up to five days off a month just for good behavior, and if you qualify you can get more time for working a job in the jail.

JM: What types of actions do you need to avoid in order to get time off?
Ron: Fighting, talking back to correctional officers, messy room, and bed. Possessing contraband.
JM: The biggest would be fighting, you want to avoid that as you will end up in Administrative Segregation. Avoid having contraband, and attempt to keep your room clean and you'll be fine.
